Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at 1:00 PM ET

Learning Objectives

1. Identify and challenge commonly held assumptions in construction and technology by recognizing where beliefs may be outdated or untrue.
2. Define the principle of “Strong Opinions, Loosely Held” and understand how humility and evidence-based decision-making support innovation and adaptability.
3. Analyze three major construction technology misconceptions—project-centric thinking, single source of truth and one-size-fits-all systems—and explore paradigm shifts that overcome them.
4. Develop a personal or organizational action plan to foster strong opinions that are tested quickly, supported by transparent data sharing and adapted as new information emerges.

Program Description

In a fast-changing construction industry, holding tightly to outdated beliefs can be a silent killer of innovation. This session challenges attendees to reexamine what they “know” to be true and introduces the transformative mindset of “Strong Opinions, Loosely Held.” Through thought-provoking examples and real-world tech insights, AJ Waters dismantles common industry myths, advocates for humility over hubris and proposes actionable strategies for navigating paradigm shifts.

Walk away with a fresh perspective and an actionable plan to foster adaptive leadership, question assumptions and model the mindset needed for tomorrow’s challenges.
