Education Requirements:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree: A degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or a related field is typically required.

Professional Experience:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in the construction industry, with a focus on technology and innovation roles. 


Additional Requirements:

  • Continuing Education: Completion of specific coursework or training modules related to construction technology and innovation.

  • Examination: Passing a comprehensive exam that tests knowledge and skills in construction technology and innovation.

Track B - Professional Services

Education Requirements:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree: A degree in accounting, technology, computer science, data analysis, business administration, or a related field is typically required.

Professional Experience:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience providing solutions to organizations in the construction industry, with a focus on technology and innovation roles.

Additional Requirements:

  • Continuing Education: Completion of specific coursework or training modules related to construction technology, innovation, and technology advancements in the profession.

  • Examination: Passing a comprehensive exam that tests knowledge and skills in construction technology and innovation.

After we receive your payment, a representative of ICAC will reach out to schedule your exam. 

We understand in-person testing can be difficult to coordinate, therefore, we utilize online testing that is proctored virtually. 

You may attempt the exam up to two (2) times within 12 months (after scheduling your initial exam) if you do not pass. 

The ICAC has developed comprehensive self-study guides designed to help candidates thoroughly prepare for the CCTIP certification. These guides cover all the key topics and modules included in the certification curriculum, providing detailed explanations, practical examples, and relevant case studies. They are structured to facilitate independent learning and offer a clear roadmap for mastering the necessary skills and knowledge. Additionally, the self-study guides include practice questions and mock exams to help candidates assess their understanding and readiness for the certification exam. With these resources, candidates can confidently approach the certification process and enhance their professional growth.

Exam Day

ICAC has partnered with an online test proctoring vendor to make it easy for professionals interested in taking the CCTIP exam across the world. 

Leading up to exam day, you will receive numerous emails with instructions to access the online platform. 

Helpful Tips for Exam Day

Here are a few helpful tips for test day when taking your exam online with a virtual proctor:

1. Check Your Equipment:
– Ensure your computer, webcam*, microphone, and internet connection are working properly.
– Run a test of the online exam platform in advance to familiarize yourself with the interface.

2. Prepare Your Space:
– Choose a quiet, well-lit location free from distractions.
– Clear your workspace of any unauthorized materials or devices.

3. Have Your ID Ready:
– Have a valid photo ID on hand for verification by the virtual proctor.

4. Follow Instructions:
– Read and follow all instructions provided by the exam platform and the proctor.
– Ensure you understand the rules and guidelines for the exam.

5. Stay Calm and Focused:
– Take deep breaths and maintain a calm mindset.
– If you encounter any technical issues, notify the proctor immediately for assistance.

6. Time Management:
– Keep an eye on the timer and pace yourself to ensure you complete all sections of the exam.
– Allocate time for reviewing your answers if possible.

7. Avoid Interruptions:
– Inform household members or roommates of your exam schedule to minimize interruptions.
– Disable notifications and alerts on your devices to stay focused.

Once you successfully pass the examination, you will be awarded the CCTIP certification. 

You will receive an official notification and a certificate confirming your new credential. CONGRATULATIONS!

To maintain your certification, you need to meet the following requirenments.

  • Earn 8 hours of professional continuing education (CPE) hours annually (Jan-Dec). Education should focus on items relevant to this certification. Example topics include: construction management, technology, and so on.
  • Maintain active employment OR practice within the relevant field (working as an hourly contractor also qualifies).
  • Follow the code of ethics and professional conduct guidelines set by ICAC. This includes acting with integrity, honesty, and in the best interest of clients or the public. 
  • Pay annual dues when due (cannot lapse).
  • Submit evidence of CPE annually, or when requested by ICAC
  • Keep detailed records of CPE ad any other activities related to maintaining the credential.
