Program Description

This webinar provides an in-depth exploration of how artificial intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing the construction industry from the perspective of a construction owner, general contractor, consultant, and technology company. Participants will gain insights into the latest AI technologies, current trends, and future predictions. The program will cover the implications of AI for general contractors, construction owners, and consultants, highlighting practical applications and benefits. Attendees will also learn about the steps necessary to integrate AI into their organizations, including training and overcoming common challenges.

CPE Credit

Mohammad Huq

Huq brings over 20 years of construction industry experience from some of North America’s biggest and most complex projects in Heavy Civil, Transportation and Transit sectors. His expertise spans various procurement models, including Bid-Build, CM and Build-Finance/DBFM (P3), at both project and corporate levels with contracts valued up to $6 billion.

Throughout his time leading cross-functional teams and working with different SMEs, Huq has always been a supporter of innovation and efficiency.

Miller Service Company

Rocky is a visionary entrepreneur, lifelong builder, and industry disruptor who’s redefining success in the home service sector. Currently the owner of Miller Service Company and Tradesman Home Services LLC. His journey began in high school, where he launched a house framing business as a senior. That early hustle quickly evolved into remodeling and full-scale home construction. While most of his peers were still exploring career paths, Rocky was already leading crews, managing budgets, and delivering results from the ground up.

In 2006, Rocky bought his builder’s mindset and leadership drive to Miller Service Company as a project manager, entering the HVAC industry with bold ambition. As the company surpassed $3.5 million in revenue, he climbed the ranks- becoming a licensed mechanical contractor, then General Manager, and eventually, Owner. Under his leadership, Miller Service transformed into a $15 million powerhouse, known for its high-performance team and its excellence in service, design, and execution. 

Today, Rocky is building the next generation of service-based businesses while continuing to evolve Miller Service into a true Tradition of Excellence.

Cody Dixon

Alvarez & Marsal

Cody Dixon is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal Tax, LLC in Dallas. He brings more than 19 years of experience helping clients design and implement custom tax technology solutions.

Mr. Dixon specializes in extracting and transforming data from ERP systems for tax purposes. His expertise includes developing automated solutions that streamline tax processes across direct, indirect, and international tax functions.  His expertise in data science and analytics enables him to develop creative and practical solutions for his clients. 

Mr. Dixon has focused on fixed assets and tax depreciation his entire career.  He leads a tax depreciation managed service where he combines tax technical and technology expertise to solve the fixed asset challenges for his clients. 

Most recently, Mr. Dixon has helped clients optimize cash refunds through duty drawback programs.  His supply chain and logistics knowledge along with experience exporting data from ERP systems enables him to automate trade data flows while maximizing claim refunds.  

Additionally, Mr. Dixon utilizes technology solutions to navigate ever changing sales and use tax landscape.  Through technology driven solutions, he helps his clients maintain sales and use tax compliance, monitor nexus, and gain insight into transactional data. He specializes in helping his Clients build or customize tax engine integrations and leads A&M Tax’s Sales & Use tax technology partnerships with Vertex, Thomson Reuters, and Avalara.

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Dixon spent more than a decade with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Dallas, leading a tax technology consulting and software development team.

Mr. Dixon earned a BBA from Texas Tech University. He is also certified as an Oracle PL/SQL developer.

Nicholas Johnson

Kahua

Nicholas Johnson has 40+ years experience in serving the design and construction industry. Starting his career as an electrical designer and drafter, he was among the first to create a career path around CAD/CAM/BIM technology. That path led to a role in IT with Heery International, an Atlanta-based design and construction company. In that role, he helped administer construction project management software. He subsequently met the team at Constructware and soon after joined their fast-growing company. Six years later they were acquired by Autodesk. Since that time Nicholas has held business leadership positions at Autodesk, Trimble Connected Water, Beck Technology, and Trimble e-Builder. He twice took two year working sabbaticals to serve a greater cause. The first with Amigos for Christ, a non-profit serving the poorest of the poor in Nicaragua, and more recently, with the Society of St Vincent DePaul, serving the poor in North Georgia. As Chief Evangelist, Nicholas will work to help share the good news of how Kahua enables a new form of collaboration that lets every project team member efficiently share information and own their own data.

Jake Strawn

Strawn Construction

Jake is a seasoned Project Manager at Strawn Construction, specializing in multi-million dollar school construction projects. With a keen eye for detail and a commitment to excellence, Jake has successfully managed the scope, schedule, cost control, and client relationships for several high-profile projects.

One of Jake’s notable achievements includes overseeing a $90 million project for the Santa Clara Unified School District. This extensive project involved the modernization of two middle schools, two elementary schools, and an adult education facility. Jake orchestrated the development of design requirements by collaborating closely with decision makers and the design team, ensuring transparent communication between the construction team and key stakeholders.

Jake’s dedication to client satisfaction is evident through his hosting of post-project client meetings to review the attainment of requirements and ensure overall satisfaction. He also facilitated the training of design professionals on the usage of newly installed software programs, enhancing the team’s efficiency and productivity.

In addition to his project management skills, Jake has demonstrated innovative problem-solving abilities. He devised a calendar sharing solution for a school district, improving collaboration among 100 users and three separate organizations. This solution is still in use today, showcasing its lasting impact. Furthermore, Jake implemented an online file sharing service to streamline document distribution across three job sites and created an online web album connected to PDF files, simplifying the viewing of construction photos for school officials.

Jake’s expertise and innovative approach make him an invaluable asset to Strawn Construction, consistently delivering successful projects and fostering strong client relationships.
